Hi everyone, today would of been Hans Christian Andersen’s birthday, so to celebrate this iconic storyteller, I thought I would write a small bio and some of his quotes by the man himself.
Hans Christian Andersen was born April 2nd 1805, he was born in Odense Denmark. When he was born nobody knew what an influence he would have on the world. He became famous for being an author, poet, novelist, travel writer and playwright. He was most famous for his book of fairy tales that are loved by people of all ages, right up to this day.
By the time Hans reached 14 he started working as a soprano at the royal Danish Theatre, but when his voice broke that was when he begun writing poetry, on the advice given to him by a colleague, and from there he started writing short stories that became a huge success and where he found fame.
Andersen is most famous for The Ugly Duckling’, ‘The Emperor’s New Clothes’, ‘Thumbelina’, ‘The Snow Queen’, ‘The Little Mermaid; The Princess and The Pea’ and ‘The Wild Swans’ among many others. Now his fairy tales are a part of our culture and are available in most countries and translated into 100 languages. He was such an extraordinary writer, who also came up with so many quotable quotes. Here is a collection of his best ones.
