Disney Halloween Movies for the Whole Family

Hi everyone, this years Halloween is going to be a lot different because of the pandemic. I was going to write about how Halloween first came about, but I thought that wouldn’t be constructive with what is going on in the world today, so I thought it doesn’t matter what you are doing as long as you are with family or friends, whether you have them at home or you spend your time connecting with them via Skype, FaceTime or some other way. I thought you could still share a movie together as if your were actually there with them. The movies I have chosen is for the whole family, something for everyone so enjoy!

Movies to Enjoy with Your Family

Halloweentown [1998]

This comedy adventure is one of the most beloved Halloween movies of all time. Halloweentown follows the story of a young girl called Marnie and her family on a rollercoaster of adventures. On Marnie’s thirteenth birthday she discovers that she’s a witch, just like her mother and grandmother before her, but not just any witch – a Cromwell witch whose destined for great things but for now she needs to aid her grandmother in saving Halloweentown against the evil forces that wish to destroy it.

Halloweentown II: Kalabar’s Revenge [2001]

Marnie and her grandmother work together to foil the plans of a wicked warlock’s son before he can use powerful spells to create chaos in the world. Marnie and her sister Sophie have to go back to Halloweentown, to investigate why the town seems to have lost its magic. Turns out, an evil warlock has stolen their grandmother’s book of spells, and he wants to use it on humans — to turn them into the costume they were wearing on Hallows Eve, permanently.

Halloweentown High [2004]

When a supernatural teen who comes from a family of witches brings some monster friends into her “mortal world,” she bets her family’s magic that nothing will happen to them whilst in the mortal realm — while at high school they are disguised as foreign exchange students, her school — and her magic — is threatened by an evil enemy.

Return to Halloweentown [2006]

Marnie is all grown up, this time headed to Witch University in Halloweentown on a full scholarship. But there are still some secrets left for her to uncover before she graduates. Excited about learning alchemy and amulets, potions and portents, Marnie travels through the portal to become Witch University’s most famous coed. But everything is not what it seems. There’s a new school rule: No magic allowed! Marnie also learns about an ancient prophecy — and it turns out she holds the key to revealing the ultimate secret. With the help of old friends Ethan and Benny the Skeleton, and new friends Professor Periwinkle and Aneesa the Genie, will Marnie make the right choices in time for Halloweentowns’ 1,000 Year Anniversary Celebration?

Hocus Pocus [1993]

A curious youngster moves to Salem, where he struggles to fit in before awakening a trio of diabolical witches that were executed in the 17th century for practicing dark magic — are now conjured into the present day. The Sanderson witches run amok in Salem and are literally digging up old friends from the past, find they are running out of time in a desperate attempt to preserve their youth…

The Haunted Mansion [2003]

A realtor and his wife and children are summoned to a mansion, which they soon discover is haunted, and while they attempt to escape, he learns an important lesson about the family he has neglected.

Twitches [2005]

Two teen witches who were separated at birth and were adopted by two different families meet on their 21st birthday and must use their powers to save the world in which they were born, where their birth mother still lives, in the magical realm of Coventry..

Twitches Too [2007]

Alex and Camryn now know that they’re royalty, but they can’t quite agree on how to handle their new titles. What they can agree on? Uniting against a new supernatural villain. After using their powers to battle the forces of darkness, the sisters settle down to lead normal lives. However, they soon discover that their biological father who as been missing for years is still alive but trapped in the shadowlands. Can these siblings set a side their differences and come together to save the day?

Girl vs Monster [2012]

The night before Halloween, Skylar a fearless teenage girl discovers that she is a fifth generation monster hunter and unleashes a wild monster called Demetria who is determined to get rid of her before she can continue the family tradition. Now with the help of her friends she must rescue her parents from captivity and defeat Demetria in the process, all before going to the party of the year and meet up with her crush of the century.

Z-O-M-B-I-E-S [2018]

In cheerleader Addison’s world, zombies are real—but they’re not so scary! In fact, the government has discovered a way to keep the zombies from eating human brains, and now the two species co-exist peacefully (or, at least, they should). But as the Zombietown kids and the humans struggle to integrate at the local high school, Addison collides with zombie Zed and learns an important lesson.

Z-O-M-B-I-E-S 2 [2020]

A follow up to the first movie, continuing the adventures of the students at Seabrook High Addison and Zed with their budding romance and the beginning of the school becoming an integrated place is about to be threatened by the arrival of a truckload of werewolves.

Tower of Terror [1997]

Down-on-his-luck journalist named Buzzy Crocker who just lost his job and now writes for a supermarket tabloid, travels with his niece Anna to the Hollywood Tower Hotel that’s believed to be haunted by five guests who disappeared in an elevator back in 1939. He’s determined to get a story out of the myths (whether he has to fake it or not), but he soon finds that the hotel IS really haunted and he and his niece have to figure out how to break the curse before they face the same fate as those who haunt the hotel!

Invisible Sister [2015]

Cleo is a science geek and outsider at her school where she is constantly compared to her much more popular older sister, Molly. After successfully turning a moth invisible with her new science experiment, Molly also ends up accidentally getting affected by the new concoction and must find a way to turn herself back before she ends up stuck like that forever.

Mom’s Got a Date with a Vampire [2000]

Adam and Chelsea won’t let anything get in the way of their plans for the night — especially being grounded. To distract their mom, they set her up on a date, but things don’t go as planned. When their little brother realizes the man they set their Mom up with is a vampire, they end up fighting for their (and their mom’s) lives in this horror-comedy.

Coco [2018]

Despite his family’s baffling generations-old ban on music, Miguel dreams of becoming an accomplished musician like his idol, Ernesto de la Cruz. Desperate to prove his talent, Miguel finds himself in the colorful Land of the Dead following a mysterious chain of events. Along the way, he meets charming trickster Hector and together they set off on an extraordinary journey to unlock the real story behind Miguel’s family history.

The Wizard’s of Waverly Place: The Movie [2009]

The last thing teen wizard Alex wants to do is go on is a family vacation. Her parents (Maria and Jerry) insist that she comes along and while on vacation, a frustrated Alex wishes that her parents had never met. When Alex’s wish comes true and Maria and Jerry have no memory of their marriage and family, she and her brothers (Justin and Max) realize that they will cease to exist unless they can undo the spell. While Max babysits their quarrelling parents, Alex and Justin set off on a quest for a magical stone that pits sister and brother against each other in a battle between the young wizards.

Happy Halloween Scooby Doo! [2020]

Scooby-Doo and Shaggy’s favourite holiday is upon us! With fake monsters and candy galore, Halloween is heaven for these hungry foodies going door-to-door. But this year, their sweet holiday turns sour when the neighbourhood pumpkin patch is tainted by toxic ooze, creating high-flying jack-o’-lanterns and a king-size pumpkin leader that squashes everything in its path. It’s up to Scooby-Doo and the gang, who team up with their pals Bill Nye the Science Guy and Elvira, Mistress of the Dark, to solve this mystery of gigantic proportions and save Crystal Cove!

Spooky Buddies [2011]

The buddies are back, so join them on their Halloween adventure. Their journey takes them far across town to a mysterious mansion where something very spooky is going on. With the help of some unexpected new friends — including a friendly ghost — this exciting adventure is howling-good Buddy fun, as they try to save the world from some very bad dogs. In a race against time the Buddies and their new friends, Pip, Zelda, Rodney and Skip, must stop Warwick the Warlock — and save the world from his dastardly deeds.

The Black Cauldron [1985]

Taran is a young man who undertakes a heroic task in the magical and mystical land of Prydain. He sets out on his quest to prevent the evil Horned King unleashing the supernatural powers of the Black Cauldron on the people of Prydain. All he has is his magic sword and his travelling companions (the beautiful Princess Eilonwy, Gurgi the funny, furry creature and a clairvoyant pig) in the race to find the Black Cauldron first.

Now You See It… [2005]

Professional magician Mystic Max hosts a reality TV show. Allowing three winning teams of minors, would be TV directors and cameraman as well as the best young magicians to go on to a final competition at Hollywood’s Magic Mansion. — Allyson Miller the producer of the new reality TV show accidentally reveals something that was never meant to be seen on television.

Into The Woods [2014]

Into The Woods as a modern day twist on the beloved Brothers Grimm fairy tales, intertwining the plots of a few choice stories. This humorous and heartfelt musical follows the classic tales of Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack and The Beanstalk and Rapunzel – all tied together by an original story. It surrounds a baker and his wife’s quest to break a witch’s curse in order to start a family. Along the way, they encounter several well-known fairy tale characters and together they learn what happens after “happily ever after.”

Maleficient [2014]

As a beautiful young woman of pure heart, Maleficent has an idyllic life in a forest kingdom. When an invading army threatens the land, Maleficent rises up to become its fiercest protector. However, a terrible betrayal hardens her heart and twists her into a creature bent on revenge. She engages in an epic battle with the invading king’s successor, then curses his new-born daughter, Aurora — realizing only later that the child holds the key to peace in the kingdom.

James and the Giant Peach [1996]

When his parents are killed by a giant rhino, James Henry Trotter has to live with (and skivvy for) his nasty aunts Spiker and Sponge. However, after he is given magic crocodile tongues by a stranger, amazing things begin to happen. James escapes from his aunts by climbing inside a giant peach, and setting off with all the friendly, talking insects who live inside it. A mixture of live action for the out-of-peach sequences and animation for the main part of the story.

Monsters, Inc. [2001]

Top Scarer Sulley and his enthusiastic Scare Assistant Mike work at Monsters, Inc., the largest scream processing factory in Monstropolis. The main power source of the monster world is the collected screams of human children. However, monsters believe children are dangerous and toxic, and they are scared silly when a little girl wanders into their world. Sulley and Mike do their best to return the girl home, but they face monstrous intrigue and some hilarious misadventures along the way.
